I knew they understood instantly, because, truth is, each one of those ladies puts themselves together in a way that screams confidence, creativity and an innate sense of who they are. My friend Heather, for example, likes to express herself by accentuating her long legs and wears clothes that hug her figure in all the right places. She chooses just enough whimsy to give you a hint of her playfulness, yet rounds out her look with a sophistication that tells you she’s not messing around. Her jewelry and accessories highlight her outfit both in color and texture. Eileen is a sexy mama who means business. She can pull of any figure hugging dress or skirt like the rest of them and adds her own twist by pairing it with fun accessories like leather and silver jewelry and a cropped jean jacket. She never hides behind her clothes, her clothes bring out her true spirit. Christa instantly makes me smile the minute I see her. She exudes a confidence that is the envy of those around her. Her clothing (although always fabulously put together) is a backdrop for all her fun beauty tricks and accessories. I love her two toned hair, her layers of fabulous jewelry and her colorful bags, shoes and hair accessories--her smile, though, is the most contagious.
Dressing to express your true self involves going deep and listening to your intuition. It means ignoring all the noise, the “shoulds” and the “shouldn’ts”. We firmly believe there are no rules, just be true to yourself and throw your effort into that--you can’t go wrong. And trends. My advice on a trend is, if you love it, use it. It’s a suggestion, not a mandate. At Kismet, we are here to guide you, to be your mirror, to share any knowledge we’ve learned along the way and, the best part, we learn from you, too. So if you’re ever feeling doubtful, stressed or anxious about what to wear--go within (and then go to your closet!), the answer is there.
